Once upon a time, a farmer and his wife lived with their two children, Phoolmati and Padam, in a hill village. Tragically, the parents drowned while crossing a river, leaving the children orphaned and struggling to survive. Phoolmati had a unique gift: every morning, she transformed into a beautiful plant that produced fragrant, extraordinary flowers. Padam sold these flowers, improving their lives. When the king announced a competition for the best flowers for a yagya ceremony, Padam shared the news with Phoolmati. Excited, she urged him to present her flowers to the king, hoping to earn a reward. On the day of the ceremony, many people arrived at the palace with flowers. Padam brought Phoolmati's flowers and entered the grand palace, filled with anticipation as he joined others waiting for the king. The king, a dignified young man, greeted everyone and invited them to present their floral offerings.
