Baba Ramdev, originally named Ramkishan Yadav, was born on December 25, 1965, in Mahendragarh, Haryana. He was raised in a farmer's family and completed his early education in a government school. He later pursued Sanskrit and yoga under the guidance of Acharya Pradyuman and Baldev at the Kangda Gurukul. A significant incident in his childhood involved a paralysis condition affecting his left side, which was healed through yoga. This experience deeply influenced him to study yoga seriously. In his youth, Baba Ramdev decided to become a monk and received initiation from Swami Shankar Dev, becoming Acharya Ramdev, later known as Swami Ramdev. After extensive studies, he went to the Himalayas for deep meditation and learned yoga from various sages. In 1995, he established the Divya Yog Mandir in Haridwar to promote yoga among people. His teachings gained widespread popularity, especially after the Aastha channel began broadcasting his yoga camps in 2003, making yoga accessible to a larger audience, including rural areas with limited knowledge about it. His popularity soared, leading to a significant increase in followers both in India and abroad, including the UK, USA, Nepal, and Canada. Baba Ramdev became a prominent figure in promoting yoga, contributing to a nationwide revolution in health and wellness practices.
