You build your words like castles in the sky,
Promises shining, but fading, they lie.
You leave me stranded, half-way through,
Like my heart’s a thing you can undo.
I stay, because love still pulls me near,
Even as cracks form, even as I fear.
But one day, the breaking will reach its end,
And I won’t be there for you to mend.
When you call my name, you’ll hear only air,
No soft reply, no “I’ll be there.”
And maybe then you’ll start to see,
