Aman, a twelve-year-old boy, desperately wants a new pair of shoes and complains about his old, shabby ones. After much bargaining and pleading with his mother, he wins the argument and is excited about getting new shoes after their visit to the Shani Temple. His mother explains that Saturday is a good day for giving to those in need and instructs him to give his old shoes to someone less fortunate. Although Aman is distracted by thoughts of showing off his new shoes to his friends, he accompanies his mother to the temple, where they encounter many beggars. After a brief worship, his mother distributes old clothes to the beggars, and Aman looks for someone to give his old shoes to amidst the chaos. The story captures Aman's journey from selfishness to the realization of the importance of giving.
