George opened his eyes and smiled. “I must agree to that. I do come to your home tomorrow evening.” He said.
“Don’t forget. We shall make all the preparations for it.” I said.
“Alright I remember” he is saying after a pause. “How is that Smaran’s investigation is going on?”
“I just don’t know what he is doing. But he is so confident that he would solve the mystery before the time limit he promised to us.’
“I am hundred percent confident that he can do it like that.” With firmness in his voice George said.
“May I come in Miss Dazzle.” There is Nova stood at the entrance of my cabin.
“Sure, please.” I said. Nova has become very much instrumental in the office recently. She has become an expert in most of the things. George and I both are feeling very much happy with Nova. Moreover recently we have not seen Nova talking with her late husband.
Nova came near to us and I am seeing some tension in her face. “Nova what is the matter? Are you worrying for anything?” I asked her.
“I want to talk something with you.” With a small voice she said to me. I found that her voice is shivering while saying that.
“May I go away. If you want privacy…..” George is trying to say something.
“That is not at all necessary sir.” Nova hastily cut him off. “I want you too stay here now.”
“First make yourself comfortable in the chair and then tell me what do you want to say.” Nova’s behavior is very much puzzling to me. What she indeed is trying to say?
So carefully she sat beside George in the other chair opposite to me. “I want to go away. I want to resign to this job and go away.”
I am feeling shock and looking into the face of George. I am feeling aghast. It seems George also is feeling in the same way.
“Why Nova? Is there anything troubling to you here?” with a questioning expression in my face I asked her.
“No, it is not so.” Nova is struggling a lot to express her views.
“George and I both are completely satisfied with your services Nova.” I am saying. “You have proved yourself as a valuable asset to us. I am thinking that you do stay here with us for a long time. Why suddenly this decision?”
“I am very happy that you both are satisfied with my services. But….”
“You need not struggle whatever it may be. Just express it freely. Neither of us takes it as offensive.” George said.
“Yes, Nova. Whether to work here or not is completely upto you. If you don’t want to work here, neither of us compels you for that. It may be a little troublesome to us to find another competent secretary for our organization, alright if that is inevitable we face it.” I am saying. Despite my good opinion I am feeling angry also on Nova. “Just tell us the reason.”
“My husband is not liking my working here anymore.” With a small measured tone Nova said to us.
I am looking with surprise into the face of Nova and after few seconds I turned towards George and am looking into his face. There is a surprising expression on his face also.
“You say that your husband is quite grateful to me as I have provided this job to you. He expressed his gratitude on that day to me through you. What happened suddenly?” I am feeling irritation.
“Now also he is feeling like that. But he is saying to me that the woman who is hell bent upon doing harm to you warned him she does harm to our family also if I stay with you. She is so much powerful than my husband. She asked my husband to make me to resign to this job fast and go away from this town.”
I am once again looking into the face of George and feeling completely irritated and bewildered. It seems he is also as much shocked and irritated as I am on hearing that. I am slowly digesting what she said.
“Its alright Nova. If you want to leave for that reason I have no objection whatsoever. When do you want to leave?” I adjusted myself in the chair and am thinking there is no use in worrying now. I don’t want to convince her in any other way at all. I am feeling full anger and irritation on her.
“I have taken my resignation letter with me madam.” Taking a paper out from her note book she said.
“You have prepared in all respects. Good.” I took the letter from her hand and saying. “Your resignation is accepted Nova.” Then I turned towards George and asked him. “George may I send her away? Or is there anything that you have to settle with her?”
“You may please wait in my chamber Nova. I come there just in ten minutes or so and settle everything of you. Then you can go.”
“Thank you sir.” Nova nodded her head and went away from there.
“I am very sorry Dazzle.” As soon as Nova left our room George is saying to me. “It is I who selected her for you. You have already vexed with one secretary before.”
“Oh, not at all George. No problem.” Hissing out heavily I am saying. “But she proved herself such skillful! She relieved my burden a lot. What this her late husband thing I cannot understand. She is surely suffering from something very serious psychological disorder.”
“I am feeling pity towards her in fact. She has got two little children and not much financial support. It is difficult to her to find a job immediately with this much of salary if she goes out from here.” George is saying “I try to convince her to stay here. If she does not listen I cannot do anything. I am really very much upset because of her decision to go away. She is very much helpful to me also. I just don’t know how to manage myself from now on.”
“My feelings are also the same George” I am saying. “But if she does not listen to you make arrangements for another secretary immediately. I also cannot manage myself for longer without a secretary.”
“I can understand that Dazzle. May I take your leave now?” With a smile on his lips Gorge said. But he is still upset because of the decision of Nova. Nova has become very much helpful assistant to him also.
“Don’t forget to come to my home tomorrow evening. We all do wait for you.” Leaning back in the chair I said. I am feeling happy again momentarily forgetting Nova’s going away from us.
After the door closed behind George, I closed my eyes.

“Tell me Mr.Smaran. How far your investigation has come? There is only five days time in between.” Looking into the face of that famous detective I am saying. Time passed very fast without much untoward incidents. Occasionally I heard voices and suffered strange experiences and Viola gave the same explanations and Menaka supported her in full. “We are all very eagerly waiting.”
“I can understand that Miss Dazzle. To solve this mystery fully, finally and in all respects you have to agree for something.”
“What that is?” Interest picked up in me.
“Before I say what that is, I have to say some important things related with it. Then only you can understand that something I am going to ask you is important to solve all the mysteries.” Keeping his face expressionless Smaran said.
“Just go on Mr.Smaran. I am all ears.” I am feeling eager and smiling now.
“After probing everything you have said to me,” after leaning back in the chair while looking straight into my eyes Smaran is saying. “I have come to an opinion that your subconscious mind was systematically programmed by a skilled hypnotist.”
“Who, who can do such type of a thing? So far I know only one psychologist and hypnotist and that is Viola only. She never does such type of a thing.”
“It is not Viola. It is entirely a different person and you know him very well.”
“Who it is then? I just cannot understand what you are saying. It is all quite confusing to me.” I really cannot understand anything.
“It is Chuck Watson. It is he who systematically, many a time programmed you. He programmed you to imagine like that. To have such experiences. I don’t know yet why he has done it like that but he is the main person behind your odd experiences Miss Dazzle.”
“I just …just cannot understand anything! He is a CEO in some reputed organization the name of which I cannot remember now.” I am struggling a lot. I really cannot believe what I have heard.
“He programmed you not to remember certain things.”
“How, how he could do it like that? He is not a hypnotist or a psychologist.”
“Chuck Watson was a practicing psychologist. He knew hypnotism also very well.” Smaran’s voice is steady and calm.
“How, how can you know more about Chuck Watson than me?” I am feeling irritation and anxiety “You did not even know him.”
“I have contacted his wife with the details you have given to Menaka. I have extracted all the necessary details from her. She said to us that Chuck Watson was a psychologist and hypnotist. It is also true that there were serious disputes and differences between them both. But both of them were living together by the time of his death.”
“I know about that.” I am fuming now. What a fool I am! How I have given myself to be programmed like that by Chuck!
“You said that after the sexual experience with him he used to talk something which you cannot remember however hard you try. In fact he programmed your subconscious mind then. He programmed you every time not to remember what instructions he has given to your subconscious mind.” He paused for few seconds and then is saying again. “You said that even after you have severed your connections with him he used to talk to you through phone. You said the further conversation with him after formal hello hai you cannot remember at all however hard you tried. He has programmed you through phone also. You were programmed not to remember any of that later on. ”
“You are right. I am also still facing that problem. I just cannot remember what he has talked with me in the phone after the usual and formal conversation between us.” I am fuming in myself then. In fact I am feeling angry on myself. How foolishly I went into the trap of that rascal!
“He programmed you continuously through phone also. He programmed you in such a way even after you came to India. Because of that programming only you imagined and felt odd like that.”
“My god!” I am having a dizzy feeling now. “Why, why he did all that? What is the motive? What he does want to get?” I just don’t know how I am talking.
“He has not worked on his own. He was planted by some other people. He acted according to their instructions.” Smaran’s face is still expressionless.
“Who, who they are? Why they do want to play with my life so? What harm I did to them?” I don’t know but I am screaming.
“Miss Dazzle, please relax yourself. Just relax. There is no necessity to be tensed like this. Relax yourself. Everything will be alright.” Looking straight into my eyes Smaran is saying.
I don’t know how and why but I am once again feeling relaxed. There is some unknown power in Smaran. I breathed deeply and hissed out. “Its alright Mr.Smaran. What’s the next step?”
“You have to give me the permission to hypnotize you. Under the hypnosis I not only deprogram your subconscious mind and put it in usual way but also try to know about the other people who are behind this.”
