Split Personality

A romantic, paranormal and psychological thriller

Kotra Siva Rama Krishna

“Okatho’s idea is.....” Sadan paused for a second “...........I think you also can guess that. She stays in the body of Evalla until Evalla becomes pregnant, then makes her offer herself to Amsara. You know Amsara has special interest on pregnant woman and possess some of them if they offered themselves to him. If he accepted their offering, he blesses them with his grace. So Okatho is now waiting just to Evalla becomes pregnant. Okatho is thinking staying in the body of Evalla while she is offering herself to Amsara is offering herself to him.”

“It is six months or so after our marriage and she has not become pregnant yet. I am not thinking that she becomes pregnant even in the future.” Viswanadh said with a despairing tone.

“My strong hunch is; she sure becomes pregnant very soon.” Sadan said with firmness in his voice. Before either Viswanadh or Prameela said anything, he said again. “We just wait for some more days. If there is no problem to us with her and my premonition proved wrong, we make arrangements for the marriage of our both.”

Viswanadh and Prameela looked into each other’s faces and nodded their heads.

“This river bank, we never fail to come here and play with.” Okatho said looking into the face of Evalla. “In the evening times, after our school it is indeed the best place to us to pass our time.”

“You are right” Evalla said. “But I don’t like the way we have been treated in the school. They are treating us as dirt. I am thinking that it is better we don’t go to school at all.”

“No, please don’t think like that. Education is important to us. Mother said if we are educated we can come out of blind beliefs like there is paranormal like Amsara. We need education to lead lives respectably.” Okatho said. Both were sat on the same big boulders on the bank of the river on which they usually sit.

“There is no paranormal like Amsara? There is no Amsara at all?” Evalla knitted her brows together.

“No, there is no Amsara and it is just the creation of sick minds. There is no such thing in existence at all.”

“So, our great grandfather Michivako adoring Amsara and his becoming rich due to that also just imagination of sick minds and not true?” Evalla was still looking into the face of Okatho.

“Absolutely so. Our great grandfather family’s sudden richness was because of anything but not Amsara. Michivako’s sick thinking made him to do such dirty things and his doing such dirty things was never the reason for their prosperity.”

“But what do you say about our seeing Pomya and the things she has been saying to us? It is said that Pomya died a long time back and she appears like that only for the few. We both are seeing her and listening many things from her. Are you thinking that we both are just imagining Pomya and it is not paranomral at all?”

Okatho did not say anything as she did not know what to say to that at all.

Evalla said again. “Did you say to mother that we have been seeing Pomya here?”

“If I say it so to her, she never allows us to come here again to play. I cannot take a risk like that. This is so much a favourite place to me and I don’t want to be deprived of the pleasure of playing here.”Okatho sighed heavily. “I did not say about that father also

“For the same reason, I also did not say about that to mother and father too.” Evalla said “Only Charakka knows about it. I am afraid he may tell about it to mother at sometime in future”

“There is no problem that Charakka tells about it to your mother at any time.”

Both of them have heard the same usual voice of Pomya, stood up and turned back. On the back of them Pomya stood in the usual attire of white clothes and small smile on her lips.

“He is sensible to think that there is such danger if he tells it to your parents. Don’t worry.”

“Oh, Pomya, you!” Evalla’s face brightened with happiness. “I really did not expect to see you now.”

“I also.” Okatho also nodded her head. “But thank you Pomya you came here again to talk with us.”

“I also feel pleasure to talk with you both.” Pomya said looking at the both girls. “It is indeed very much joyful to me to talk with the people who are loved by Amsara.”

“I just don’t know how Amsara loves me even he is in existence.” Okatho said. “I don’t like his desires. I never want to be in the way he wants. Why he still likes me and loves me?”

“It is just because you are the direct descendant of Michivako and was lucky enough to survive his sexual intercourse with your mother also. Amsara knows sooner or later you come into his way. He spares with the temporary disobedience like this if he is sure sooner or later the person comes into his way.” Pomya this time was looking into the face of Okatho.

“I come into the way of Amsara, that never does happen.” Okatho’s voice was firm. “I have decided so strongly in myself to follow the way my mother suggesting. Even however much angry Amsara may get that never does change.”

“Oh, don’t talk like that and get Amsara more angry with you.” Evalla admonishingly said. “The hardships we are facing now are not enough to you?”

“Either you or your mother cannot say how the future is going to be but Amsara can. Amsara can know it for sure and I am also feeling so strongly, a time does come that you become staunch follower of Amsara.” Still looking into the face of Okatho, Pomya said.

Okatho did not say anything and remained silent. Seeing Pomya like that before her who died a long time back itself was the real proof that there was paranormal. Then how Amsara also would not be true?

“And Eva you are going to be the wife of Michivako, your great grandfather sometime in future. Amsara makes it takes place. He always makes his devotees together. Michivako and his mistress Tarima were great devotees of him in those days and he wants them become one now also.” This time Pomya said looking into the face of Evalla.

“Where is that Michivako now? What’s his name in this life? When I am going to him and how can I recognise him?” Evalla’s heart was filled with joy when she heard that. She was indeed very much attracted to Michivako and there was a feeling in her towards him which she could not explain herself to her.

“Looking at whom you get the strong feeling that he is the person for you and you borne for him, he is Michivako.” Pomya said. “Amsara makes you to choose only Michivako for your marriage. If you wholeheartedly find someone to marry and share your life, he is Michivako. You need no doubt in that at all.”

“Alright then.” Evalla nodded her head and said “Thank you” even though there was dissatisfaction in her heart hearing Pomya like that. She wanted some straight answer to her question.

Then just like at any other time, without saying anything, Pomya disappeared from that place.

“Now can you say whatever happened just before our eyes was nothing but our imagination?” looking into the face of Okatho, Evalla asked her.

“I cannot say anything! Come, now we do go to home. It becomes night soon.” Okatho turned back and started walking away from that place and Evalla just followed her.

That was the moment Evalla woke up with irritation and anger on herself. She knew whatever has gone through in her mind till that moment was not her dream but she remembered something that took place in her life at a long time back. The Pomya, she still could remember her with all minute details and it was she who believed in paranormal and who believed in Pomya at that time than her sister Okatho also.

She could remember what Pomya said about identifying her great grandfather Michivako also. If she felt so strongly towards someone and wanted to marry him, there was no doubt that he was Michivako. Amsara would help her to feel so strongly towards Michivako only wherever he took his birth and whatever may be his name. Even she has sexual intercourse with some people in her life, it was only towards Viswanadh she got such feeling! So as per Pomya’s saying, Viswanadh was no one else but Michivako himself.

But Michivako, that dirty scoundrel! How she could like him and attracted towards him at one time in her life, Evalla could not understand now at all. Michivako was a person who has no moral conscience at all and has sexual intercourse with the sister of his own mother, fucked his three half-sisters and kept the eldest one of them as his mistress! How she has been attracted to such a person and she was becoming angry on herself for her feeling towards him at one time. If her feeling towards Viswanadh was only because he was Michivako in one of his previous lives, she was feeling disgust and hate on him also.

It was afternoon time of a Sunday and she got that dream after taking her meals and lying on the bed. Once she woke up, she became so much restless and could not remain anymore on the bed. Quite impatiently she came out of her room and accosted Prameela at the doorsill itself.

“I am happy that you are in the home itself!” Evalla’s face was brightened with happiness. “I am just looking for someone to share my feelings.”

“I am also just in the search of someone to time-pass and you know to your husband and my would be husband there are no Sundays and they would be put themselves into work everyday. Come, we sit in your room and talk there. It just serves the purpose of us both.” Prameela said trying to enter into the room of Evalla.

“Not in my room. I am just vexed spending all the time in my room. We both sit in the hall and talk there.” Evalla said and Prameela did not see any objection to it.

“Now pour your heart and tell me every feeling of yours. Your best friend is here to hear all that and give you best suggestions.” Once they both were settled in the side by side chairs in the hall, Prameela laughed and said.

“I got another dream making me remember some of my past.” Evalla said. “After having it I was disturbed.”

“Certainly everyone has a past and you also have a past. It is abnormal forgetting that past completely so but not remembering it somehow or other. You just have to feel happy that you are remembering your past incidents so and in my opinion sooner or later you would be completely acquainted with your past.” Prameela said.

“If my past is just like the past of everyone else, what you have said is true. I sure do feel happy to remember that. But I just cannot feel like that because the daughter of a prostitute’s past is not going to be glorious!” Evalla’s face was with full of uneasiness.

“Prostitutes are not that much despicable things on earth as they also play an important role to satisfy the urge of some unfortunate male. They are quite better than those criminals who commit such untellable crimes everyday in the society. Anyhow I don’t encourage prostitution and never ask anyone to do that but you stop feeling like that and bravely tell me what that past you remembered just now.”

Then in a measured tone Evalla told her the dream she got and until she finished, Prameela did not disturb her at all.
