Mystery’s at the Cemetery

We all are confused at some point in our lives....whether it is future studies, relationships or something else.

Like all of us little lily has always been confused, she's 5 yrs old but she acts like a teenager already. It is her 5th birthday and she's so excited, she goes shopping with her mom.

"Ah I can't decide which dress I want to have." Lily said

"Just pick the one you like, my girl."

"I like both of them mom, can I have both?" She jumped from excitement and threw a charming smile at her mom.

"lily I'm sorry dear but you can only pick one dress." Her mom said.

Lily was disheartened, she was angry all the way home.

Her mom came in her room.

She sat beside Lily while our little Lily pouted at her.

"Lily my dear, I could have gotten you both dresses, we are not poor we can afford two dresses but I wanted you to understand the value of things you already have, if you get things easily in life you won't learn to value them. Sometimes in life you have to pick one option from many and when you don't have a habit of choosing all the options it becomes difficult to make a choice." Her mother explained her.

Poor little Lily was too little to understand what her mother said but dear reader I hope you understood it....wait the story doesn't end here.

When it was Lily's 18th birthday 13 yrs later, she went and picked a dress, she remembered her mother who had now unfortunately passed away, the words she didn't understand as a 5 year old now echoed in her mind.....

She sat down at her mothers grave.

Tears fell down her cheeks.

It was hard to speak but she spoke, "Why did you go away mom? You were right on my 5th birthday when you said that sometimes we don't have a choice of all of the above, we have to make hard decisions, back then, choosing that dress was the hardest decision of my life and now I realise how worthless it was, when you decided that you won't continue chemotherapy and live you last days peacefully, mom that was the hardest decision you took and not only was it hard for u but everyone in this our family, you were right mom, we don't value what we have when we have it."

A voice echoed in the cemetery.

Lily was scared.

My dear child Lily, having you as my daughter was the greatest thing of my life and raising you right might be the best thing I did, I wanted you to be strong whether I'm alive or dead. I wanted you to make hard decisions of your life alone because it's your life and look how wonderful those decisions turned out....Lily life is not over yet, you will also make wrong decisions and you will be devastated but please remember that you learn from your mistakes and not regret it...hard decisions Lily that's our thing, that's what defines how strong we are and how much control we have over our own life my dear Lily......I love you so much, and let the mystery of my voice talking to you at the cemetery stay buried with me.

Lily's mother guided her even in death or was it Lily's own voice? Or was it a hallucination ? I guess we will never know, because some things are meant to be mysterious just like Lily and her mother's conversation.
