“Alright sister. I too don’t ask any questions. But please arrange for the caution deposit if I get the job.” Suddenly there came a change in Chandan also.
“The same to you which I said to Ratan. Both of you just apply for that job without any delay.”
Then both Chandan and Ratan applied to that job and even there was a caution deposit condition, there were so many applicants to it as it was a very good and big company. Even Chandan and Ratan both have equal qualifications it was only Chandan who could do the interview better so it was only Chandan who got the job. Even Ratan was in more need of a job then and Chandan whole heartedly wished Ratan to get the job even he could not, it did not happen like that.
“What you are thinking brother? You have the habit of sharing everything of yours with that Ratan. Go and share this happy news also with him.” His sister Sailaja said.
“We both have applied to that jobs but it is only I who could get it.” With a pathetic expression in his face Chandan said. “In fact it is he who is in more need of a job. They are in debt now as they have to spend huge money for the heart surgery of his father. Moreover because of his heart surgery, his father resigned to the job he is doing and they have no source of income. I am feeling guilty to go to him and tell him that I have got the job and he is not in the company we have applied.” He groaned “there are more than seven jobs and how best it would have been if Ratan also got one of it.
“There is no use in worrying about those things which we cannot help” Sailaja sighed heavily and said “But if you are really feeling about your friend; it is not just that you should say to him that you got the job, you have to tell him that you would be helpful to his family until he gets something somewhere as you do have steady flow of money every month. Why should not you spare something for your friend from the money you do get as your salary, if you do think that he is such a good friend of yours?” Sailaja knitted her brows together.
“You are really very much understanding dear sister!” looking gratefully into her eyes Chandan said. “Thank you very much dear sister, not just for the good decision but for the caution deposit you are going to give also.”
“All that thanks etcetera later. First go to your friend and said to him what I have said to you.” With a smile on her lips, Sailaja said.
Then it took ten minutes to Chandan to reach Ratan’s family and he was invited warmly by Ratan. Ratan’s mother Sarojini came out and gave coffee and snacks to them both once they were settled in the chairs face to face.
“It seems you have good news to tell.” Looking into the face of Chandan, Sarojini said once she disposed with coffee and snacks between them. “If it is not reserved only for your friend, I am curious to hear.”
“I got the job in that company aunty.” Looking into her face Chandan said. “But I am not feeling very much happy. I wished so much that Ratan also to get that job. In fact I wish him to get this job in my place. I know how much you people need money now.”
“Oh, what type of thinking that is? It is just like I got the job if you got it. Would not you help me if you have some income source like this? You people have such good heart to pay my caution deposit also if I got this job.” There was sudden happiness in the face of Ratan and he stooped forward in the chair. “I am feeling very happy that you got this job. Congratulations.”
“Yes, congratulations to you. I came to know that your sister has become ready to pay that caution deposit for Ratan also. Even there is no such necessity now, it just proves how good you people are.” Sarojini said. “You just continue your talking like that. I have work in the kitchen. You are going to take your lunch here on this day.” Then she went away from that place.
“To say that exactly I came here now. With god’s grace we people are in comfortable position now. Until you have been settled in something very much comfortable, I do help your family. I am feeling your family as my family so you need not pay back what I pay to you.” Ratan said. “You may try to get something very much good and need not compromise yourself.”
“I have expected that you do say something like that, we both are that much good friends.” Ratan laughed and said.
“If our roles are reversed and I am in your position, you would have said the same thing.” Chandan started sipping the coffee, keeping the snacks plate on the floor there.
“You are absolutely right!” Ratan nodded his head. “But for the present, I need your suggestion on something rather than your help. At present we people are in very much dilemma and does not know what to do.”
“It is not unusual between us to give suggestions to each other. But it is surprising to me that much problem has come which put all you people in dilemma, first let me know what it is?”
It was indeed quite usual between those two friends to share ideas and give suggestions to the problems.
“You know that my sister Vasanthi is taking nurse training and it takes one year more to her to complete it.” Ratan said.
“Yes, of course. She is a good friend to my sister Sailaja. One common thing between those both friends is they both are beautiful and attractive!” Chandan laughed. Somehow he understood that the problem was related to Vasanthi.
“I just don’t know whether it is a solution to our problems or another problem.” Ratan leaned back in the chair and closed his eyes.
“First let me know about it fully and then I decide what it is.” With little bit irritation Chandan said. “But don’t worry yourself without saying anything to me.”
Ratan opened his eyes and adjusted in his chair for more comfort. “My sister and her friend have been sharing a room together. My sister is undergoing nurse training and her friend is doing a job and at the same time she is trying for roles in movies also. Recently she went to the audition for a heroine role in another language movie.”
“It is surprising that she went for audition for another language movie, how it is?” frowns gathered on the forehead of Chandan.
“The story of the film needed a non-local girl so far I came to know.”
“Alright. What next?”
“She invited my sister also to come with her and she went along with her. Do you know what happened there? They liked my sister and wanted to take her as the heroine instead of her friend who tried for it.”
“It is even more surprising! Your sister never has any intention to act and she has no acting training or experience. How they have preferred to take her?”
“That doesn’t matter to them at all. Her structure and face perfectly suited to the role and they are thinking that she absolutely suit to it. So they asked her to become the heroine of their film ...........”
“.............and your sister has outright denied that offer I think.” Chandan laughed. “If that was what your sister did, I do say that she did the perfect thing. We know very well about the picture field and what is happening to the women there.”
“That’s what exactly she did but she has been really put in dilemma just like us when they offered twenty lakhs rupees outright payment. Virtually they are very much ready to make the account’s transfer once my sister agreed to the role and sign on the contract!”
“I just cannot believe even a little bit of what you have said!” with shocking expression Chandan said. “I know girls who do try, try and try even for supporting roles in the movies but never get one. But whereas your sister not only get a heroine role but twenty lakhs rupees outright payment also for that!”
“That is what I too cannot believe and cannot decide what to do. You know we are already in five lakhs rupees debt and we mortgaged our only house for it. My dad has resigned to the job and I have not got one yet. I am sure that you help us until I get job............”
“I sure do help you people but it is not enough to twenty lakhs rupees and cannot get you people out from your troubles at once. First thing tell me, are those people that much serious to take only your sister as heroine? Would they make the payment immediately after signing of the contract? I know people who hoodwink easily without making payments breaking their promises.”
“My sister can start acting only after she has seen the amount in her bank account, they said, there is no problem with that amount. The problem is with whether we can allow her to act in that movie or not.” Still there were deep frowns on the forehead of Ratan.
“Did they tell the story of that movie to your sister?”
“They did and it is horrifying! This is the movie of a prostitute. She has been transported from this state into that state so they wanted a girl from this state for this role. It has been made clear to her there would be sufficient sex content in the movie.”
“Then it is something that we need to think seriously.” Chandan said with a meaningful expression in his face. “I know how the now a day movies are even without sex oriented. This is a movie of a prostitute particularly sex oriented. There is no necessity to tell how it is going to be.”
“But so far by the further information those producers and directors are very reputed and big ones. It can be understood by their offering of twenty lakhs rupees like that.”
“Then there is another danger also. If this movie has become a big hit, it would be translated into our language and be released in our theatres also. How you people do feel if the people here see the movie and comment on Vasanthi? Twenty lakhs rupees is indeed a very good amount and take you people at once out from all your problems but what about the disgrace and bad reputation? Your sister is going to act as a prostitute!”
“But it is just a role, action but not real.” Ratan’s face was with a troubling expression then. “It is a movie in other language and I don’t think it becomes a big hit and be released in our state also. Many girls competed for that role and I just don’t know how it has taken place but my sister got it even without trying for it. Her friend has been coercing her to agree to it from the moment it has been offered to her. They both are very good friends.”
“What your parents are saying Ratan? What is their feeling about it?”
“Just like me they are also in dilemma. We just cannot decide what to do. It is just like a good opportunity has been given to us by god and we are trying to throw it way. Other than what it is my sister has been selected for it who just accompanied her friend there? But what you have said also is true. Without sex oriented we know how the movies are. We need not say anything about particularly sex oriented movies.”
