Laughter in Darkness

A suspense, romantic and psychological thriller

By

Kotra Siva Rama Krishna

But what troubling Aravind was she was still moody, still appearing quite uneasy. She appeared so jovial, so happy just till the moment she entered into this house. What was eating her away then he could not understand. He also was feeling little uneasiness in this house now but not as much as she was.

“Now I want to reverse that. I want to take the initiative.” Aravind got off from the chair he sat, went near to her and put his right hand on her right shoulder.

“Aravind, please. I have no mood.” Looking into his face with a frown on her forehead, Sameera said.

“I protested just like this on that day but you did not hear, did you?” making her laid on the bed, Aravind said.

His advancing so changed her mood a little, Sameera hissed out heavily and put her both hands around his neck. Aravind put his lips on her smooth and silky lips and while continuing that kiss they hugged each other strongly. With his physical intimacy like that her mood changed even more automatically and her moaning with ecstasy mingled with the sound of outside down-pouring rain. Aravind suddenly felt something strange entered into him and the desire in him became unbearable and intolerable. He started doing such type of things on her body which he never did before and never even imagined that he would do so. What was even more surprising to him was Sameera also started reciprocating to him in the equal measure. It took nearly half an hour or so to that vigorous and violent sex to come to an end. By then not only both of them were completely satisfied but exhausted to the maximum.

“My god! I just don’t know how I have agreed to those nasty things” Sameera got off the bed and slumping herself in the chair in which Aravind sat before, said.

“Not just that you also did nasty things on my body also which you never did before.” With a mischievous smile on his lips, looking into her face, Aravind said.

Sameera did not say anything to that but leaned back in the chair and closed her eyes.

“Anyhow it changed your mood, I think” Aravind sat on the bed and said.

“No it did not change my mood. It increased my uneasiness even more.” With beautifully gathered frowns on her forehead, Sameera said.

“Why it is so? What is the reason for it?” Aravind knitted his brows together.

“Just think. Just think yourself.” Sameera paused a moment as if to reiterate whatever she was going to say. “Ever we behaved in this way before? Ever we did these types of nasty things to each others like this? Why suddenly in this room on this day?”

“But in copulation these are not unusual. Couple enjoys doing these a lot. We also enjoyed doing so, otherwise why did we do so?”

“But why we did it so only in this room? Why did not we behave like this at anytime before at any other place?” with a questioning expression in her face, she asked him.

“You know one thing. We can go even more deep, we can do even more that you cannot even imagine.” Looking into her face mischievously, Aravind said.

“Shut up! Whatever we did now itself is very much disgusting! You are talking about to go even more deep?” Sameera angrily said. “I just cannot understand why we did want to behave like this only in this room.”

“You have forgotten. We have our very first experience in this room itself. We did not behave like this on that day.” Reminding her about their first experience in that room, Aravind said.

“That was very first time to us in our lives, so even there was some paranormal here that inexperience prevented us from behaving nastily like this then. But now as we are experienced also in this, that paranormal made us do all those things.” Fear masked thickly the face of Sameera.

“Now you are that much convinced that there is paranormal in this house?” Aravind got off from the bed, dragged another chair in the room near to Sameera and slumped himself in it. He took her right hand into his hands, squeezed it gently and looked into her face.

“You are more interested in paranormal than me also. As per the agreement between us, you are still following shadow world. You tell your frank opinion to me. Are not you feeling that there is paranormal in this house?” Sameera knitted her brows together.

Aravind closed his eyes, leaned back in the chair and hissed out heavily still holding the hand of Sameera in his hands.

“Tell me Aravind, tell me. If you say that there is no paranormal in this house, I do feel more happy. But you need to be frank.” Sameera vehemently asked him.

“Alright, there is paranormal in this house, what’s then?” Aravind opened his eyes and looked into her face. “The souls of Semanthakam, Nagaraju and your grandmother Rajeswari are still in this house, what would be the problem? We do leave this place tomorrow itself. We are not going to stay here forever.” He paused for a moment and said again. “Moreover we are not alone here. That many number of people are in company with us.”

“My god! I just don’t know what to say.” She gently relieved her hand from his hands.

“You need not say anything. Don’t think about anything unnecessarily. Just remember. You are not alone here. So many people are also with us. Moreover we are not going to stay here for long. Tomorrow itself we do leave this place and you too know about it.” still observing her keenly, Aravind said.

Sameera leaned back in the chair and closed her eyes. It seemed whatever Aravind has said did not get much change in her.

“Do you remember what happened once we went downstairs after finishing our business here on that day? Your mom attacked you. She blamed you and me a lot.” As if to get change in her thinking, Aravind said.

“Not just my mom, both my parents blamed us a lot. Especially they became quite angrier with you.” Sameera smiled and said.

“They were quite justifiable in their feeling and behavior. Who can tolerate if their daughter was deflowered by a rogue like me?” Aravind said and transferred himself once again onto the bed beside her.

“Oh, don’t say like that. You are not a rogue. You are not a rogue neither then nor now.” she put her hands around his neck and kissed on his cheek.

“But you are the sweetest and quite glamorous then and now also.” He kissed on her lips and said.

“But Aravind…” she released her hold around him, got off from the bed and turned towards him. “I must say one thing here.” she stood arms akimbo, looked into his face and said.

“Say anything you want. I am all ears to hear.” Aravind smiled and adjusted himself for more comfort on the bed.

“There is something behind all our coming here. It is not just some subconscious signal. It is more than that. Something sinister made us all come here and I am afraid that we cannot leave this place all safe.” Once again there was ample uneasiness in her face.

“Why that something was all silent until we entered into this house?” Aravind also got off from the chair, put his both hands on her shoulders and said.

Sameera clipped her lower lip between her teeth frames and released it slowly. “I cannot say.”

“Despite my saying you are worrying about the same thing again and again, why so?” Aravind knitted his brows together. “Have trust on me.”

“I am sorry. Sure I do.” She smiled, put both her hands around his neck and kissed on his right cheek.

“We spent enough time already here. Come we do go downstairs.” Leading her from there, Aravind said. Without making any protest, Sameera followed him.

“But if you see carefully you can find a reasoning in her saying so.” Tanuja said when they both retired into their room and settled in the chairs. “Fighting between good and evil. Which overpowers which. Here Semanthakam is good and Nagaraju is evil. They have been fighting with each other always.”

“Oh, stop it. Her saying so was quite coincidental. She concocted something like that.” Rajesh said but a sort of uneasiness started in him also.

“Why she would concoct something like that Rajesh? She is appearing in all respects a healthy girl physically and psychologically also. Why suddenly she talked like that?” the fear in Tanuja’s face was intensified even more.

“That Rose promised to explain the things to us. We shall see what she is going to say. Once we hear her explanation all our doubts will be cleared.” Rajesh said.

“My god! Why did we come here again?” Tanuja said leaning back in the chair and closing her eyes. “What indeed made us come here again that too with new people?”

“You have started all that again?” observing his wife keenly once again, Rajesh said irritatingly.

Tanuja was fifty one years’ aged now having a married daughter and a grandson. But she was as much interested to him as she was when taken to him for abortion. She was in her six month pregnancy when the miscarriage happened. Malathi was the gynecologist in his hospital then and as usual that case went to her. As he helped her in all other cases, he helped in that case also even his specialization in medicine was not that.  Malathi played not only in conducting that abortion safely but also in making Tanuja agree to marry him. Rajesh knew his decision to marry Tanuja hurt Malathi a lot but she could not deny his wish. She always felt grateful to Rajesh because of the help he did to her in pursuing her studies after her patron to whom she remained as a concubine died. Tanuja’s having a child with someone else did not diminish his interest towards her either on that day or on any other day.

“The thought that we are now just in the room that old woman used to be making me feel even more fear.” Tanuja suddenly opened her eyes and said.

“Shall we change our room then?”

“No, we don’t change” Tanuja said adjusting herself in the chair. “She is my grandmother in law. If I go out of this room feeling fear to her, she may get even more angry.”

“It is funny. Are you thinking that she is still in this house?” looking into her face Rajesh asked her. “She is dead and we have cremated her body also.”

“We have cremated her body not her soul Rajesh. No one can destroy the soul, don’t you know about it?” Tanuja knitted her brows together.

“Oh, please stop talking nonsense like this” Rajesh said once again getting the irritating expression in his face.

“But Rajesh….” Tanuja tried to say something more.

“Tanuja please. Don’t talk like an illiterate. How do you believe in such type of things? It is our property and we have come here to enjoy. We are going to stay here only one day. Do you need to feel this much for our just one day stay here?”

It seemed that Rajesh’ saying so took some change in Tanuja’s thinking. She transported herself onto the bed there, put her head on the pillow, made herself comfortable and closed her eyes. She did not know when she fell asleep.

Rajesh yawned heavily, closed his eyes and leaned back in the chair. Quite effortlessly he also fell into sleep.
