At the beginning of the story, it is told that the world has come to an end which happened due to a sudden drop in population and oil production, which led to the collapse of civilization due to lack of resources. Now there is no law and order in the world and people are ready to go to any extent to survive. What is left now is dead bodies scattered in the forest and empty houses. Here we see a man named Alex who is dragging a dead body in the forest and buries the body by digging a pit at a place. Then Alex sets a trap to catch animals. After this he returns to his cabin located in the forest. Actually Alex is one of those few survivors. When there was a shortage of food, Alex came to live in this cabin and since then he is living alone here. Alex grows vegetables outside his cabin. He sets traps to catch animals in the forest and lives by other means. He is cut off from the outside world and does not trust anyone. Alex is always alert and keeps a short gun with him. He sets traps against intruders around his small farm. Alex loves playing the harmonica and keeps playing it. This is how Alex's lonely and lonely day passes. One day Alex hears a sound outside his cabin. He goes out with a gun and finds an old woman and a girl standing outside his door. He points the gun at them. The old woman assures him that she is not a threat to him. She tells Alex that this is my daughter Lisa. We both are looking for a place to eat and stay. The old woman asks Alex to give him a share in her farm and allow him to stay there and offers some jewelry and seeds in return. But Alex does not trust her. He does not want to take a risk by keeping them there. So he refuses. Then the old woman tells Alex, if you allow us to eat and stay today, then you can have a relationship with my daughter Lisa. Alex agrees after thinking a little. He thinks that it is a matter of just one day and he is getting to do all that with Lisa. Alex points a gun at them and lets them come inside the house. He asks them if there is anyone else with you? The old woman says, no, we both have come here wandering from a long distance in search of food and shelter. Alex gives them food. The old woman and the girl are very hungry and start eating quickly. Then Alex locks the old woman in another room. The old woman tells him to take care that Lisa does not get pregnant. After this Alex has sex with Lisa. The next day when Lisa goes to the bathroom, the old woman tells Alex that Lisa has started loving you. You are also very lonely in your life. Let both of us stay here. We will help you in your work. But Alex says that his farm is very small and it is difficult to grow grains for the three of them. The old woman says that we can expand the farm. But Alex refuses and after Lisa comes out of the washroom, he asks them to leave as per the deal. The old woman comes out with her luggage. But Lisa comes to Alex with soap and razor and lovingly applies soap on his beard and shaves it. Lisa wants to show him that she needs him. He cannot do everything alone and she wants to win his trust. After this Alex allows them to stay in his cabin. The three of them do farming and other work together during the day. They eat together in the evening and every night Alex has sex with Lisa. One day the old woman tells Lisa that we have to kill Alex somehow. If he dies, this farm and cabin will become ours and also if there is one less man, then the supplies will also be saved. The old woman tells that Alex keeps the bullets of his short gun in the pocket of his pants. You have to steal them. At night when Alex and Lisa are sleeping, Lisa quietly takes out the last two bullets of the gun from Alex's pants. The next day Lisa gives both the bullets to the old woman. The old woman picks up the concrete pickaxe so that she can kill Alex on the pretext of digging the soil and now Alex does not have any bullets in the short gun with which he can save himself. Here Alex is carrying a seed sack outside. The old woman comes out of the house and starts digging the soil with the concrete pickaxe and Lisa goes to the nearby river to take a bath. Here the old woman is about to kill Alex from behind by picking up the concrete pickaxe when Alex sees someone's footprints in the soil. He becomes alert and asks the old woman about Lisa. The old woman says that she has gone to take a bath in the river. Alex goes towards the river with the short gun. The old woman also follows him. Here Lisa is taking a bath in the river. Then a man points a gun at her and presses her mouth with his hand and forcibly takes her with him. When Alex and the old woman come to the river, they see that Lisa is not there. He starts looking for her by calling out loudly. Alex follows their footprints and reaches the bushes. He puts his hand in his pocket to put a bullet in his short gun. But there is no bullet in his pocket, which makes Alex upset. Then the man who is hiding in the bushes with Lisa, gets a chance and shoots Alex from a distance. The bullet hits Alex's stomach. And he falls down. The man comes to Alex to kill him, but Alex takes out his knife and slits his throat. Which kills him. The old woman and Lisa bring Alex to the cabin. They both remove the bullet from Alex's stomach and treat and bandage his wound. Alex has to bear a lot of pain in this. Alex points a gun at both of them and asks them to sleep in another room because he had understood that these two together had removed the bullets from his short gun. Here Alex's health starts deteriorating and his wound gets infected. The old woman is happy to see this but Lisa takes care of him. Day by day Alex's condition gets worse. One day Alex calls Lisa and asks her to clean his wound. Lisa cleans the wound and during this time Alex faints. Lisa takes the gun from his hand and gives it to the old woman. The old woman wants to kill Alex but Lisa says he saved my life. We should treat him. The old woman says if we want to eat to our fill then we will have to kill Alex. There is only grain for one person in the farm and nothing gets caught in the traps set for the animals. Lisa says you have grown old. After you leave I will be left alone. Then I will need Alex. The old woman agrees to her for the time being. The old woman and Lisa get busy with work and Lisa takes care of Alex. Somehow she has started liking Alex now. After a few days of care Alex gets completely cured. One night when Alex is outside the cabin he sees the light of a torch in the forest. From which he understands that someone is there. He quickly comes to the cabin and puts Lisa and the old woman in one place and asks them to keep quiet. Alex tells that I have counted six attackers. Then the attackers start banging on the door of the cabin. Alex has only two bullets in his short gun and no bullets in the other gun. So he cannot fight them. So the three of them try to stay silent. The attackers are unable to open the door and leave from there. The next morning Alex, Lisa and the old woman come out of the cabin and see that their farm has been completely destroyed by the attackers and the ripe crops have been taken away with them, which makes them very sad. After this, the three of them start sowing seeds in the field again. But the crop was going to take time to come and nothing was getting caught in the traps set for the animals. Due to which they have to sleep hungry and empty stomach. The next day they steal mushrooms and bird eggs in the forest and eat them. Here Lisa finds out that she is pregnant. This information does not make her happy at all. She thinks that in this world where there is no place to eat and live, she will not be able to take care of her child. So she tries to abort herself with the help of a wire without telling Alex and the old woman. But Lisa does not have that much courage. Tears start flowing from her eyes and she stops. The next day they neither find the eggs of the birds nor any animal gets caught in the traps. The old woman comes to Lisa in despair and explains that we have enough food only for two people. So we have to kill Alex. We have no other option. Lisa also agrees to this. She says that today I will mix poison in the food and feed it to Alex. In the evening Lisa brings poisonous mushrooms from the forest and cooks food with them at night and feeds it to Alex. The next morning the old woman tells Alex that Lisa and I are leaving from here. But Lisa says that she does not want to leave from here. Just then the old woman starts vomiting. Lisa tells her that I mixed poison in your food instead of Alex because now you have become old and it would be better for you to die. Lisa did not want to do this but if she wants to keep herself and Alex alive then she will have to kill her mother. The old woman knows that she will die soon. She accepts her death and goes to the forest with Alex. She tells him to cut her wrist so that she does not feel much pain while dying and bury her there after she dies. Alex does the same. He buries the body of the old woman after she dies. Then when Alex is returning to the cabin, he sees that two rabbits are trapped in the trap he had set in the forest, which is enough for three people to eat. Alex thinks that if Lisa had not poisoned the old woman, she would have got today's food and she would have been alive. Alex returns to the cabin with the rabbit and while preparing to cook the rabbit, he tells Lisa about his brother. He tells her that both of them lived in this cabin for 7 years. They used to steal food from the camp. But once while running away after stealing food, a girl saw them. Alex's brother could not stop himself and started doing wrong with the girl. But then Cam's guards arrived there and we both started running. But my brother fell down while running. Alex says I realized that there is no way for both of us to survive. So I cut my brother's heel and left him to die. Because what my brother did was what should have happened to him. And if I had not done this, we both would have been caught. AlecAlex tells Lisa that what he did by poisoning the old woman was right. Sometimes we have to take tough decisions to save our lives. After this, Lisa puts Alex's hand on her stomach and tells him that she is pregnant. The next day Alex is sitting outside the cabin and crying. He never thought that he would fall in love with Lisa and have a child. After some time, both of them go to the forest in search of food. When both of them are returning to the cabin, they see from a distance that the attackers have returned and are looking for them inside the cabin. Alex says that we have to get out of here but before that we have to take the crop seeds from the cabin. Lisa slowly climbs the roof of the cabin and goes to another closed room where the seeds are kept. It takes her a while to take out the seeds. Till then Alex is keeping watch from a distance with a gun and the attackers are looting inside the cabin. Lisa picks up a dagger after taking the bait. But it makes a noise and one of the attackers comes to know that there is someone inside the room. He opens the door and comes inside. But by then Lisa has left from there and is running towards the forest with Alex. But the attackers follow them and soon surround them from all sides. Alex and Lisa are left with no way to escape. Alex wants to save Lisa and her child. So he tells Lisa to run. I will distract them. Alex starts playing harmonica. Due to which the attackers start coming towards him. Seeing this opportunity, Lisa runs away. One of the attackers comes after Lisa. But Lisa traps him in an animal trap and escapes from there. Alex shoots one of the attackers. But he himself gets injured by the crossbow arrow. After this the attackers set the cabin completely on fire. Then they set Alex's dead body on fire. From which we come to know that these people are cannibals. That is, those who eat human flesh. There Lisa wanders alone in the forest all night. The next day she comes out of the forest and reaches a main road. She comes near a large security complex which is built to protect civilization. This area is surrounded by barbed wire and armed guards are patrolling there. Many people live there. They do farming and are engaged in other works. Lisa goes to the gate and throws her bag and dagger and hands it over to the guard on the other side. The guard goes inside with her belongings. Lisa is a little confused. A female guard tells her whether she will be allowed to stay here or not? People will decide this by voting. The guard comes to know that Lisa is pregnant. She asks Lisa, have you thought of the name of the child? Lisa replies, if it is a boy, then she stops and emotionally says, I will name him Alex and with this the story ends.
