Lunch Time – Orphanage Courtyard
Children were laughing, talking, and opening their lunch boxes with joy. In one corner, a boy sat quietly. The plate was in front of him… but his hands never reached for it. His face was blank—like something inside him had already broken.
Two boys noticed him.
First Boy (smiling): “Hey, look… that boy is sitting alone. Let’s go to him. Maybe he’ll become our friend.”
The second boy quickly stopped him.
Second Boy (seriously): “Are you crazy? Don’t you know? He’s the cursed boy. Whoever stays close to him… dies.”
The first boy froze for a moment. Then, nervously stepping back, he whispered:
First Boy: “Good thing you told me… I’ll never go near him again.”
The story’s gaze—stops on that boy.-Ravi Maurya.
Ravi (narration): “What you just saw… you probably didn’t understand. Let me explain. I am Ravi Maurya and I am 13 years old.... I am… a cursed boy. They say… because of my curse… my entire family was destroyed.”
Scene Shift – Ravi’s Past
8 year old little Ravi runs with a paper boat in his hand.
Ravi (excited): “Mom! Look! I made a boat for my little sister. When she comes, I’ll play with her all day!”
His mother smiled warmly.
Mother: “Yes, son. When your little sister arrives… you can play with her as much as you want. Nobody will stop you.”
His father too was about to return from military duty in a few months.Happiness filled every face in the house.
But… one moment changed everything.
While fetching water, Ravi’s mother slipped and fell—directly on her stomach. At the hospital, they learned the truth, the baby girl… had died inside her mother’s womb.
Before Ravi’s sorrow could heal, another blow came—News arrived that his father had been martyred in a terrorist attack.
Hearing this, his mother’s heart shattered. Within days… she too left Ravi behind.
Ravi (narration): “From that day… my life changed forever. None of my relatives accepted me.”
Relatives(to police): “We cannot keep this child because our financial condition is so good.”
But Behind the back “They said I was cursed… because my whole family had died.Wherever I went… death followed.”
The police placed me in an orphanage. Because my father was martyred in the army. But even there… the story spread.
People whispered: "Whoever stays with this boy… will not survive."
Orphanage Courtyard – Afternoon
Ravi sat in the corner again. No one came near him anymore… and by now, he was used to it.He had accepted himself as “the cursed boy.”
Then, two people approached — a boy and a girl.
Boy (looking at Ravi, slightly annoyed): “You came here again without telling us? Why do you keep running away from us? We just want to be your friends.”
Just then, another boy came running.
Second Boy (panting): “Hey! Don’t you know? He’s cursed! Stay away from him… or you’ll meet death too!”
Hearing this, tears filled Ravi’s eyes. He quietly got up… and ran away.
At the Stairs
Ravi sat alone, crying.
Ravi (thinking): “Mom… Dad… why did you leave me? Everyone here troubles me… they call me ‘The Cursed Boy.’ Was it really my fault… that you died?”
Suddenly, the boy and girl found him again.
Boy (catching his breath): “Phew… finally found you after searching everywhere!”
Girl (softly): “But why do you keep running away from us? We just want to talk to you.”
Ravi (quietly): “You don’t understand… I’m cursed. If you stay with me, you’ll die too ,just like my parents did.”
Ravi thought: “I don’t know why but in this whole orphanage… Shivam and Tanya are the only ones who try to talk to me From the last five years. No one else even comes close.”
Shivam (smiling, sitting beside Ravi): “Oh really? Then I’m cursed too… because my parents died in a car accident, and I survived.”
Tanya (with a small laugh): “Then I’m cursed as well! My whole family died in a house fire.”
Shivam: “See… there’s no such thing as curses. It’s just people’s superstition.”
Tanya: “And anyway… a friend’s job is to bring a smile to their friend’s face. So come on… give us a smile.”
From that moment… Shivam and Tanya became not just Ravi’s friends, but his protectors.
