This incident took place in the Khumulwng area of Tripura. The word Khumulwng means “Garden of Flowers,” but behind this beautiful name lies a place that still makes people tremble with fear.
There is a terrifying cremation ground in this area.
People say that paranormal activities are so frequent there that no one dares to pass through that road alone, not even in broad daylight.
There are several villages around Khumulwng.
This mysterious incident happened to two notorious and alcoholic men from one of those villages.
It is said that one night, around 10–11 PM, the two men were returning home on a bike after drinking alcohol at their third friend’s house.
Their route passed right beside the dreaded cremation ground. Suddenly, they saw something—
a very beautiful, fair-skinned girl standing near the road beside the cremation ground. She was wearing a white shirt and a short skirt.
One of the two men was so ill-minded that wrong thoughts entered his head. He didn’t even think about how a young, innocent girl could be standing alone near a cremation ground so late at night.
His friend felt uneasy and said,
“Something doesn’t feel right… let’s leave her and go home.”But the other man ignored him.
He took the bike key into his own hands and forced his friend to follow him as he chased the girl.
As the two men ran after her and began to feel tired,
the girl would slow down as well.
They kept thinking,
“Now we’ve almost caught her!”
But the girl was never within their reach.
Then suddenly, while running, the girl entered the cremation ground and disappeared in an instant.
Only then did the two men realize that she was not an ordinary girl, nor even a human being.
Terrified, they rushed back home on their bike.
As soon as they reached home, trembling with fear, they narrated the entire incident to their families.
Hearing this, their family members were also deeply frightened.
It is said that when the two men reached home,
their hands and legs were badly scratched and bruised, as if they had run through a thorn-filled jungle.
However, according to them, while chasing the girl, they could only see a proper, paved road and there was no jungle visible at all.
Local people believe that this was all the girl’s illusion— she had turned the jungle into a paved road before their eyes.
It is said that after this incident, both men completely stopped looking at women with bad intentions.
Especially the man who had taken the bike key and forced his friend to follow— he was so terrified that he used to say,
“From now on, I will not even talk to a woman at night,
nor will I ever look at any woman with a bad intention.”
Some people even claim that to this day, he is afraid to talk to women at night and during the day as well, he treats everyone with great respect and dignity.
This incident does not just scare us, but also teaches us a lesson about the consequences of having evil intentions.
And this is not merely a story— it is a true incident based on the accounts of local residents. The cremation ground of Khumulwng is still considered just as terrifying and mysterious even today.
