The Magnet of My Toil
The darkness did not steal the day,
I simply pulled the blinds.
I sat within the shadows’ gray,
And left the sun behind.
The current failed, the room went cold,
The spark began to slip.
But truth be told, and truth be bold—
I never fixed the trip.
The water flowed at scheduled time,
A gift from earth and sky.
But while the rhythm stayed sublime,
My vessels all sat dry.
I blamed the years, I blamed the pace,
For time is swift and vast.
But I was slow to join the race,
And let the moments pass.
So I will stop the beggar’s plea,
And leave the grief behind.
I’ll level up the soul in me,
With focused heart and mind.
I’ll lean upon my sweat and strain,
And let my labor shine.
For like a magnet through the rain,
Success will soon be mine.
