Why I'm an Atheist

Written by: Avinash Dhale

I was not born to kneel in fear,
Nor fashioned for a borrowed creed;
My soul has always sought the truth,
Beyond tradition's whispered lead.

I questioned every sacred page,
Each ancient promise carved in stone;
For truth has never feared the light,
Nor asked that reason stand alone.

I saw no hand that moved the stars,
No voice that ruled the restless sea;
Yet every dawn, in silent grace,
Revealed the universe to me.

The mountains rise without a prayer,
The rivers find their destined way;
The seasons keep their ageless vows,
Though no divine commands their sway.

If there is holiness at all,
It dwells within the human heart;
In every hand that heals another,
In every selfless work of art.

I need no heaven bought by faith,
No hell devised to govern fear;
A single life, sincerely lived,
Is miracle enough, my dear.

Should there be God, let truth prevail;
I shall not tremble, hide, or flee.
For honest doubt is no disgrace—
It is the mind's integrity.

So call me atheist if you will;
I wear the name without regret.
I'd rather question all I know
Than worship what I've never met.

For I believe in thought set free,
In conscience, kindness, love, and light;
And if I bow, it is to truth—
The only star that guides my sight.
