Madan got off from the rock as the thought of it did not let him feel easier. “Yes, it is indeed quite foolishness. I should not have written that matter at all in the diary. I shall soon destroy it.” He said.
The intermittent silence was broken only by the waving air, rustling leaves and chirping of the birds until she opened her mouth again.
“If you don’t mind I want to know something more about Mamatha than you have written in your diary.” She too came off from the rock and went near to him. “I love you so much and I don’t want any other woman linked with your life. Did you really not love her at all?”
“No, I did not.” His voice was firm.
“Even after she urged, begged, threatened, you did not yield to her love?” Trying to remember what he had written in his diary she said.
“No, I did not.” Wondering how much she still remembered from the diary, he said.
“But, why?”
He turned swiftly towards her and looked sharply into her eyes. “Why because it is my life. I think I have a right to love only those whom my heart wanted to love. Love never comes by begging, urging or threatening.”
Susmitha nodded her head. But soon there was a frown on her forehead. Looking into his face she said “But she loved you that much. She loved you that much she became ready even to give up her life for that. I did never hear about such a love before. You men are always callous. You never bother about our women feelings. If I were you I would have loved her.” she did not know why but she was feeling some pity towards Mamatha. There was a guilty feeling in her as if she was grabbing the place which Mamatha should rightfully have.
“We came across a man while coming here who asked about Mamatha.” Without changing his direction of seeing from Susmitha’s face Madan said.
“Yes, we did.” Susmitha said.
“His name is Nagaraju. He is a distant relative to Mamatha. He is in love with Mamatha so deeply. He has become like a madman after Mamatha’s disappearance. He always went after Mamatha like a dog. He is ready to do anything for her and everyone in the village knew about that. Just like Mamatha for me, he is also ready to give up his life for Mamatha. But Mamatha never accepted his love. What do you call this?” now he frowned.
“But she is already in love with you…..” she tried to say something more.
“Shut up. After saying I have no love on her how can she hang on to me? If her non-acceptance of Nagaraju’s love is right, my non-acceptance of her love as well hundred percent right.” With a firm voice he said.
“But….” Susmitha tried to say something more.
“Listen.” He took her both hands into his hands and looked into her eyes. “Now I am in love with you very much. I cannot love anyone else. Whether I love her or not, that Mamatha’s chapter is closed for ever. Why do we break our heads like this?”
“But what if she comes into your life again?” there was apprehension in her face.
“No one could survive in that fast flowing water. Moreover she did not know even a little how to swim.” He assured her with his looks.
“If you don’t mind I want to ask one more question.” She hesitated.
“Shoot it out. You need not hesitate to ask me anything.”
“You did not throw her into the river all by yourself, did you?” her voice shivered while asking that.
Suddenly he left her, went to a distance and looked into her eyes. Now there was pain and distress in his eyes and face. “What I have written in that diary is hundred percent true. She all by herself had fallen into the river. Even she irritated me a lot, I was not that much cruel to kill her. It was all an accident.”
She fast came near to him and hugged him strongly. He immediately felt amazed and thrilled on that. It was quite unexpected to him. Instantly her youthful body created new feelings in him. She placed her head on his chest as her right ear pressing onto that.
“I am sorry that I have got you feel bad like this. I am quite relieved now. My lover is not a murderer. That is enough.” She closed her eyes and said but suddenly found what she did and shocked. She could not understand how she had behaved like that and tried to leave him and go away but by then his hands encircled her and pressed her strongly to his body.
“Yes, I am not a murderer. I am so good and deserve you in all respects.” Kissing on her hairy head she said.
“But first let me go. It is not good at all now.” She had to use all her strength to relinquish his grip and once she freed she went away from him. “My God!” she said gasping.
“I am so sorry.” Giggling he said. She could not see any remorse on his face and he appeared as if he were waited all the time for such a chance.
“It is my mistake in fact.” She frowned.
She went to the rock she sat before and put herself on that and Madan also did the same. It indeed became quite difficult to them to forget what just took place in between them both. Madan was feeling happy but Susmitha was feeling utter shame in herself. Forcing that memory back they talked some more time there. Especially about their college days and friends.
“Its all right, shall we go home now? I think we have spent enough time here already.” Susmitha said. “There was a warning from your vadina (brother’s wife) to come home without getting it too dark.”
“You did not tell me your story yet.” Taking her right hand into his hands again Madan said.
She surprised at the liberty he was taking and drew her hand back fast. “Tomorrow. We both shall come here tomorrow and then I will let you know my whole story.” She yawned heavily. “I am feeling sleepy also. We have to go home fast. Otherwise I shall sleep here itself and you have to take me on your shoulder then.”
“I cannot risk my life to that extent. Come, we go home.” He led her towards home then.

She thought she would slip into sleep instantly once she laid her back on the bed as she felt that much sleepy until that moment but it did not happen so. Several thoughts mercilessly invaded on her mind. She was feeling quite ashamed now remembering how she ran onto Madan and hugged him. How could she do like that? She questioned herself. But in those moments she was with him like that she felt quite secured. It was just like the place she rightfully belonged. She felt even better when his hands encircled her, tightened and pressing her even more. She felt his breath hot on her cheeks and she smelt his sweat. A type of sensational feeling went through all over her body when he kissed on her head. She in fact did not want to disentangle herself from him. But her moral sense did not lose completely and it urged her to be separated from him as that was a mistake to behave like that before marriage.
She took off the sari from her body and thrown it into the corner of the room. She took the other pillow on the bed and hugged it to her breasts strongly. However hard she was trying she could not be freed herself from the feeling she got when she pressed her breasts strongly to Madan’s chest. While she was enjoying the crushing of her rotund breasts by his massive chest, his hand went down on her hip and lingered on her buttocks. A pleasure wave swept through her body when she remembered the pressing of his hand on them.
She was feeling quite happy for one thing that she could escape from the hands of her enemies who were ready with plans to take her life off. She came quite far away from them and they never could guess where she was. Even they do know about her whereabouts they could not do anything while she was with Madan.
She knew very well about her uncle family’s greediness and a long time before itself her father warned her about them. But her mother was so much liked her only brother and just because of that they developed intimacy with her family so. She was just aged sixteen years by the time of her parents’ death and his uncle so easily managed to convince everyone that he was her well wisher and became a guardian to her and to her father’s properties also. But she never did think of that they would become ready even to kill her to get hold on her properties. She knew if she delayed even few days more to move from there, she would not be left alive! She could think of only this way not only to escape from their hands and save her life but to get a permanent solution to her problem by marrying Madan.
Though she felt happier to come to Madan’s home like this as she was in love with him so strongly, she was quite doubtful before that whether she would be welcomed by him or not. She cursed herself for the way she behaved on the first day when Madan tried to talk to her. If she had not behaved foolishly on that day so, she would have easily made Madan agree to give shelter to her in his home. After that incident, he did not even try to talk to her. But she daringly took the step with the hope somehow or other she could make him agree for her staying in his house. What would have happened if she had not blackmailed him so she did not know. But that diary helped her initially to gain shelter in his home. She smiled in herself.
But that Mamatha’s matter was troubling her. She was believed Madan’s words completely but what if Mamatha would come alive on one day? Even what Madan said was appearing reasonable, the chances were not nil that Mamatha escaped alive from the river however furious it was. But she could be assured herself on one thing. Even Mamatha’s return might complicate the situation, Madan would never love her. He did not love Mamatha even before she entered into his life. After she had got such a place in his heart there was no question that he would love Mamatha.
She was feeling pity as well on Mamatha and disgusted on herself as she was thinking selfishly so. She did not see Mamatha and she did not know how she looked like. But she could know through the diary how intimately Madan and Mamatha behaved. There was no surprise that she had got developed love on him so.
The other character she remembered then was Madhuri. When her thought came into her mind, her heart filled with disgust and rancor. Madhuri was an insult to friendship. She liked her a lot and helped her in many a way. But Madhuri tried to make her a drug addict. If she was not careful enough, her life would have been ruined completely. She not at all liked to remember Madhuri then at that happy time but her memories were hunting her relentlessly. She slowly slipped herself into sleep while she was trying to expel the memory of Madhuri from her mind.
