Chasing butterflies …….

(A spicy hot romantic and suspense thriller)

By

Kotra Siva Rama Krishna

“We have come to our favourite place again. Now tell me your part of story.” Settling himself on the nearby rock under the same mango tree they day before stayed, Madan said.

Placing herself on the opposite rock to Madan, Susmitha nodded her head. Then unlike yesterday she let her dark, dense hair loose on her shoulders and some of it covered her facial features as well. Her face partially covered by the black, dense hair was like the moon behind the dark clouds.

“I am just waiting for this opportunity. I cannot say whether I am lucky or unlucky. I have got lot of properties and assets. My dad earned all of them with his intelligence and hardwork! My parents looked after me quite well until my fifteenth year.” She paused for a moment and her face was clouded with sorrow insinuating the matter she was going to say would be sad.

“What happened then?” Madan frowned.

“Both of my parents were died in a plane-crash.” She said that as a matter of fact but he could see the underlying sorrow in it.

“How sad!” he gasped with sorrow.

She did not say anything but closed her eyes. He could understand that she was still feeling the impact of that incident fresh even after such a longtime.

“But you are luckier comparing with me. You were with your parents until you reach your fifteenth year. But I have lost my both parents even before I reach my fourth year.”

“How does that happen?” she snapped open her eyes. So far she did know just like her he too having no parents but she did not know that he had lost them even before he reached his fourth year.

“Just like in your case, my parents were also died in an accident. But it was a car accident” But he did not feel much sorrow as she felt for the loss of her parents while saying that. “But for one thing I am quite fortunate. My annayya and vadina (brother and brother’s sister) never let me feel the loss. They did not even bother to have their own children. In all respects they felt me as their own son.”

“How fortunate you are!” she said “But my position is not like that.  My uncle, aunt and their son would do anything to grab my properties. They have planned to kill me. I have heard their planning without their knowing. If I have not come to your home like this, I would have been killed by now.” Her eyes filled with fear.

“But why?  After your parents’ death you are the heiress of the whole properties and assets. If you want you can easily expel your uncle and his family from your house.” While adjusting himself on the rock more comfortably Madan asked with surprise.

“There lies the problem. There is a tradition in our family that our fathers and grandfathers were following for generations without fail. They do right wills so, that the women in their families would get rights on the properties only after their marriage after entering into their twenty second year. Note this, they don’t get anyghing until they marry after entering into their twenty second year. If they ventured to marry before their twenty second year, they lose all their right on the properties their fathers earned forever. Some women in our families married before they entered into their twenty second year and spoiled their properties and themselves also while some other women remained unmarried for a long time and did the same.  Whatever may be their opinion in doing so, my father as well executed a will like that and get it registered also just like his predecessors did. Because of that I cannot get any rights on my father’s properties until I enter into my twenty second year and marry someone. The only great consolation now to me is there is only twenty seven days in between before I enter into my twenty second year. If I die in the meanwhile all my properties would go to my nearest relatives and my uncle family are the only nearest relatives to me now.” She said all that in one stretch and breathed deeply.

“Then it is indeed a problem.” Madan nodded his head. “Why did not you let this matter known to the outside public? Why did not you try to give police report?”

“I have thought in that angle too. But you don’t know how much of name and fame my uncle has got in the society. All the big officials are his dearest friends. He can easily make believe the public and the officials that I have become mad so talking like that. At the same time he can very easily manage my death without raising anyone’s suspicion onto his family. After my death all my properties and assets would be his.”

“Manohar is your cousin, is not he?” narrowing his eyes and looking at her Madan asked.

“Yes. You both are classmates.” Susmitha said.

“Of course. I have heard about him a lot. He got a lot of reputation in the college.” Madan said.

“Why did not he? He often gave lavish and expensive parties to his classmates and college mates also. He spends money like water. If he earned it with his own hard work he might have known its value.” Susmitha disgustingly said. By her facial expression Madan could understand how much she did hate him.

Madan nodded his head and said “Madhuri was my classmate. How could she become your friend when you are two years junior to her?”

There was sudden change in the expression of Susmitha when she heard about Madhuri. “It was planned like that I came to know later. Manohar directed her to make friendship with me. You may be known the intimacy between that Madhuri and Manohar….”

“Yes I know and I warned her many a time not to be friendly with him. But she never listened to me.” Hissing helplessly Madan said. But the hate he was witnessing in the face of Susmitha surprised him.

“You may have some soft corner towards her. But you don’t know how much I hate her. On my cousin’s direction she tried to make me a drug addict, would you believe it?” her voice as well filled with hate.

“Did she try such a thing on you?” he narrowed his eyes again as if he could not believe what he heard.

“Hundred percent. She said that it was heroin or something and it would be quite enjoyable to take. She tempted me a lot to consume that without taking any of that herself. How bad it is?” the anger in her face was intensified even more.

“There is nothing more heinous than it if she had tried such a thing on you.” Madan said slowly but firmly. “I am feeling pity on her until this moment as she had got such a disturbed past. But now after hearing what you have said I have lost all the sympathy I have got on her.”

“Madhuri got a disturbed past? She never told me about that.” Some of the anger and hate in her face was replaced with curiosity.

“It is such a past that she could not share even with her very close friends. Her father was a drunkard and gambler. At one time he used to have assets but his bad habits devoured them all. He used to make his wife to sleep with his creditors to make them not ask for their money. As his wife could not tolerate that at all, had committed suicide on one day. What even more pathetic is after his wife’s death he forced Madhuri to do that.” Madan breathed deeply.

“How bad how disgusting!  Are there such type of fathers as well?” There was shock in her face. She did not expect this type of thing for Madhuri at all.

“Yes there are. What’s the irony is; he is a distant relative to us. After his wife’s death, on one day he sent a man into his daughter’s room. She was just twelve years or so aged by that time and that rascal raped her. She has not become even a woman by that time.”

“My god! Could it be true?” Susmitha’s face filled with a horrifying expression.

“Hundred percent.” Madan hissed out heavily. “Her weeping and yelling loudly while that guy was raping her attracted the villagers nearby. Who heard it informed some more and all of them entered into that house. They beat her father that much and he died in that attack. They beat the rascal who raped her and handed him to the police. He received his punishment in the court for what he did.”

“I just cannot believe it! How she has coped with all of that in such a tender age!” the expression was just the same in Susmitha’s face.

“My brother cleared the debts of his father and he looked after the education of her also. He got her joined in the same school and college in which I studied. She is good but not a fool. Why she turned towards that Manohar I cannot understand.” Coming off the rock as his bottom was paining sitting on the hard surface all the time, Madan said.

Squatting on the rock and leaning back while supporting herself placing the palms on the rock Susmitha said, “But I can. Manohar might have said to her that he would marry her. There is no other reason except that for her inclination towards him.”

Then Madan suddenly remembered the conversation that went between him and Madhuri in the past. On that day Madhuri very clearly mentioned that Manohar said that he would marry her. How he had forgotten about that? Exactly that was the reason for Madhuri’s inclination towards Manohar.

“You are right.” Turning towards her Madan said. “Women want that particularly and do believe such promises quite easily.”

“All women may not be but considering Madhuri’s position she would. As she suffered all along like this she sure would see for a support to lean on. Apart from the husband, who else can give it to her?” Susmitha said.

“You are absolutely right.” Madan smiled. “That’s why it often said that a woman can understand better another woman.”

“But now I am feeling very much guilty. There might be some strong reason for her behaving like that towards me. My cousin rascal would have blackmailed her in some way or other and made her do that. I should not have stopped talking with her.” With a regretful expression in her face Susmitha said.

“Was there no relationship whatsoever between you and she after she tried to make you a drug addict and you found out the connection between her and your cousin?” Madan knitted his brows together.

“Occasionally she phones to me and talks with me but I stopped phone to her. I talk with her as little as possible whenever she talks with me.” The regretful expression was just so in her face.

“Alright. Don’t worry. There is no mistake on your part. Anyhow you can again restore your friendship with her.” Madan assured her.

“You are right. I hundred percent do that.” Susmitha took a strong decision and some relief came into her face. There was few seconds silence before Susmitha herself broke it. “Now you sure would have understood that my main aim is not just coming here and taking shelter until I enter into my twenty second year. I don’t get any right over my father’s properties until I marry after that event. You are the only guy I can think of for that purpose.” Her both cheeks were blushed while saying that.
