Unforgettable Voyage - Ranjan Desai - 11

                       Chapter 11

My communication with Lalita's sister had been cut off for some time. All her actions were like those of the villainess Lalita Pawar from the film, so I used to call her by that name.

I wasn't worried about her. Talking to Aarti, going out with her, watching movies, and going to hotels had become our routine.  Even though Lalita Pawar lived next door, we didn't let her get even a hint of what we were doing.

Her college had sponsored a special screening of the film 'Saraswati Chandra'. Lalita Pawar suspected that I would also be going to see it. That's why she was going to send someone to the theater to spy on her daughter. Aarti had told me this before the movie.

She would send Aniket for this task. That was Aarti's reasoning, her guess.

Hearing this, I was relieved .

I got along well with Aniket.

I was confident that he would definitely help us.

They didn't send anyone to the theater after all.

As soon as the movie ended, along with Aarti, and two of my friends, walked to street corner to hire taxi.

Lalita Pawar and her sister-in-law were found while getting down from taxi at our street corner.. That was enough🤣to  prove that we accompanied each other for the movie

Aarti made the revelation herself.  "They were coming in a taxi and they gave me a lift.

And that's where the matter ended without any problem.

One of her friends knew me well. She invited both of us to her house. Going to someone's house before marriage was a mistake on our part.  The friend also made a mistake by inviting us.

When her mother knew about that , she also reprimanded us.

After that, the friend came to meet Aarti.

I knew her, so I invited her to my house. We were sitting in the kitchen and talking. At that time, Geeta bahen and Bhavika were also with us.

When Lalita Pawar learnt she barged straight into my house, into the kitchen, and took both of them away. Not only that, she scolded Aarti severely.

After that, she came out and sat with me under the pretext of learning something. At that time, Lalita pawar took her daughter inside the house and started abusing me.

She even called me a 'lecher'. I couldn't tolerate this. My anger erupted like a volcano."

Yet, she wasn't ready to accept this. She even swore a false oath on her youngest daughter.

When Suhani objected to her false swearing,  She confessed her ફોલી.

Later, the next day, she changed her statement in front of my father. She offered a false explanation.

"I didn't call your son a scoundrel, but to calm his anger, I had to resort to lying."

Seeing a mother behaving like that instigated me to lose my temper.

Only a villainess like Lalita Pawar, not a mother, could do something like that. Thinking this, I stopped talking to her. Her actions justified the name I had given to her.

I took Aarti to the Hanging Gardens for the first time. I laid with my head in her lap. At that time, a man came up to me.

        "Do you need a room?"

What had gotten into me at that moment?

Without thinking, I impulsively said yes.

"Come with me."  He had said us.

And I, holding Aarti's hand, followed him.

After walking for a while, he stopped near a garage, which was closed.

So he took us to the Hanging Gardens above.

At that time, a light shower started.

He pointed towards a tree and said,

"Go there and do your thing... I'm happy to help children like you. I don't need money. I have plenty of money."

Saying this, he took out a wad of notes from his pocket.

He was wearing a cap on his head, which he took off in front of us. There was a wad of notes in that too.

He took the book from Aarti's hand and said,

"Go have fun. What's the need for that in love?"  I had sat down under a tree with Aarti and was in a romantic mood. I had just pulled her close and embraced her when two strangers and the police suddenly appeared before us.

Seeing them, the man in question took to heels.

The police were with them, and seeing them, we were completely frightened.

They gave us a warning and let us go.

We promised we would never set foot in such a place again.

After that, we started going to hotels. We would have our romantic moments in a family room.

     We had immediately decided this:

We would get married when Aarti turned 18.

So, we had to wait for some time.

I told my parents about our decision.

"We want to get married."  They had also accepted Aarti as their daughter-in-law.

I wanted to seek permission of Lalita Pawar but my father forbade it. Aarti herself knew her mother, and she too stopped me from doing so.

It was only a matter of three or four months.

We were eagerly awaiting Aarti's nineteenth birthday, and finally, that day arrived. I took Aarti to a hotel for her birthday and ordered her favorite food.

The next day, my father, in the presence of two witnesses, registered our marriage in the registrar office

That was the first step in fulfilling my dream.

Exactly five days later, it was decided that we would get married according to Arya Samaj rituals.

Everyone from our side was present at the wedding: Aarti's two friends, my two friends, and many relatives...
