🌸 The Last Letter- Part 5

Part 5 – Choices and Confrontation

Aisha didn’t sleep that night. The new letter kept replaying in her mind—
Beware of the one you love.”

Her thoughts circled around Armaan. Could the warning mean him? Or was someone trying to create doubt between them? The more she thought about it, the more confused she became. Her heart told her Armaan was innocent, but the letters had never been wrong before.

By morning, her eyes were red from crying. She decided she needed answers—no matter how painful they might be.

---

At college, Armaan was waiting for her near the canteen. His expression was serious.
“We need to talk,” he said softly.

She followed him to the quiet garden behind the campus. The breeze was cold, and the tension between them was even colder.

“Aisha,” Armaan began, “you have to believe me. I didn’t send those letters. But I know who did.”

Her heartbeat quickened. “Then tell me! Who is it?”

He hesitated. “If I tell you, your life could be in danger. The person behind this is not doing it for fun—they’re doing it for a reason. A reason connected to your past.”

Aisha frowned. “My past? What do you mean?”

Armaan looked down, his voice barely a whisper. “Before you joined this college, there was someone… someone who cared about you too much. When you moved here, they couldn’t handle losing you. I think they’re the one behind everything.”

Aisha stepped back, stunned. “You mean… someone I knew before?”

Armaan nodded slowly. “Yes.”

---

Before she could ask more, her phone vibrated. Another message flashed on the screen:

He is lying. He knows everything.”

Her hands trembled. She looked up at Armaan, who was now watching her carefully.

“What does it say?” he asked.

She hesitated. “Nothing important.”

He smiled faintly, but there was something in his eyes—a flicker of sadness, maybe even guilt. The silence between them felt louder than words.

---

That evening, Aisha went back to the abandoned building alone. She couldn’t wait any longer. She needed to confront the person who had turned her life into a puzzle of fear and confusion.

Inside, the room was dimly lit by the light of a single candle. On the table lay a stack of letters—hers. And beside them stood Nisha.

Aisha froze. “You?”

Nisha’s eyes glistened with tears. “Yes, Aisha. It was me. I was never trying to harm you. I was trying to protect you—from Armaan.”

“What?”

Nisha stepped closer. “You don’t know who he really is. The accident, the warnings, the messages—they’re all connected to him. He’s not the person you think he is.”

Aisha shook her head in disbelief. “No, that’s not true. He’s been helping me, Nisha!”

Nisha’s voice trembled. “Helping you? Or controlling you? Every place you went, he was already there. Every time you got a letter, he appeared. Don’t you find that strange?”

Aisha’s mind went blank. The world around her felt unreal. Could it all be true?

---

Suddenly, the door creaked open. Armaan was standing there, his face pale.

“So, you told her,” he said quietly.

Nisha’s expression hardened. “You can’t hide the truth forever.”

Armaan took a slow step forward. “And you can’t protect her from destiny. She had to know eventually.”

Aisha looked between them, tears filling her eyes. “Stop! Someone tell me what’s going on!”

Neither of them answered. The silence that followed was heavy, suffocating.

---

Then, without warning, the candle flickered out. The room plunged into darkness. Aisha screamed as she felt someone grab her arm.

“Run!” a voice shouted—but in the confusion, she couldn’t tell whose voice it was.

Her heart pounded wildly. The letters scattered across the floor as she stumbled toward the door. Outside, the air was cold and sharp, and behind her, she heard footsteps—fast, desperate, chasing her.

She didn’t stop until she reached the main road, gasping for breath. When she looked back, the building was silent again, as if nothing had happened.

And then her phone buzzed. One final message flashed on the screen:

You made your choice. Now face the consequence.”
