Madan went to the chair and once again burdened it with his weight. Then he stooped forward in the chair and smiled. Sukanya’s assurance made him relaxed. “Then I tell without wasting anymore time.” He said Susmitha’s coming into the home and her blackmailing, etc. Without even blinking her eyelids Sukanya started hearing that. When Sukanya heard about Mamatha’s falling into the river she became aghast.
“Mamatha had fallen into the river?” with a shock in her face Sukanya asked him.
“Yes. She had fallen into the river.” He uneasily explained that episode to her again.
The shocking expression in her face was troubling to him. “My God! That means she was dead!” Her voice shivered a little.
Her reaction so to Mamatha’s incident was making Madan more and more uneasy. “But there is no mistake of me at all in this. That was hundred percent an accident. She just all by herself had fallen into the river.”
“Did not you try to save her at all?” Sukanya could not remain without asking that question.
“How can I? I don’t know swimming at all. Moreover you know that river fully well. Within seconds she was disappeared.” Giving such an expression in his face and eyes implying the furiousness of the river Madan said.
“Would you have behaved in the same way if it was Susmitha?” she did not really wanted to ask so but asked.
It indeed hurt the feelings of Madan and he stood up from the chair. “So you are considering me as a culprit. It is all my bad luck. I never have thought that you would take me like this.”
She understood that he was suffering. Suffering by his own guilty feeling rather than by her asking so. Looking into his face she felt pity. There was some meaning in what he said so. Never at any point of time he said to Mamatha that he was feeling love towards her. Whenever she proposed her love to him he rejected that vehemently. Every person must have his own right of living and loving. Surely Mamatha had no right to compel him to love her. At the same time once he did not know how to swim it was not justifiable to accuse him that he had not jumped into the fast flowing water to save Mamatha.
She stood up from the chair and came near to him. “As I have heard that Mamatha died like that I became emotional. On reasoning it appears that you are right. Alright tell me further. What happened next?” Still she could not digest the death of Mamatha. She used to play with her in her childhood. She was one of her childhood friends along with Madhuri and Vineet. In those early days she did not feel ego. She started feeling superior only later on and that continued like that until six or so years back. In fact her mother was the main reason for her feeling like that. She used to say that they were rich and maintain distance from poor people like Vineet and Madhuri.
Madan explained to her their going into the mango tope for three days consecutively, his leaving Susmitha all alone in it on the third day and Susmitha’s seeing Mamatha jumped from the top of the mango tree before her and talking with her and so on.
“What! Mamatha jumped from the top of the mango tree before her? How it is possible?” her face filled with surprise.
“She is saying that Mamatha died and has become a devil and there is nothing impossible to devils to do.” Worryingly looking into the face of Sukanya, Madan said.
“Very silly! How she imagined such an incident I cannot understand. Moreover an educated and intelligent girl, how does she believe in devils?”
“That is what I too cannot understand. She is saying that it is all really happened. I just don’t know how to convince her that it was all just her imagination.” rubbing his temples with his right hand fingers Madan said.
“Any other incidents like that happened afterwards?” settling herself into the previous position on the bed Sukanya asked him. Madan as well came out of the chair and went on to the bed and sat on that and went near to the wall there and laid his back on it. Now he looked into the eyes of Sukanya. They both were in two feet distance to each other.
“Just day before yesterday she has seen Mamatha in her room. She is saying that Mamatha tried to enter into her body.”
“Surely all these are her hallucinations. What we need to do now is to know why she has subjected to these.” Sukanya thoughtfully said
Madan did not say anything. He was seeing the professional psychologist slowly emerging in his friend and felt happier.
“What type of girl this Susmitha is?” Sukanya broke that silence.
“Educated and intelligent as you said just before.” Madan was relaxed himself a little.
“Ever she has this type of imagining problem in her life before?”
“I have not verified about that. But I think there is no such problem at all with her before coming here. If she ever has suffered with imaginations like these before, she would have told me.” But there was a small doubt on that to him. Even they both were lovers now not many days passed between both of them to her to say to him each and every detail of her life.
“That needs to be verified and known.” Sukanya said.
“This is a very simple problem and you can solve it very easily, is it is not?” Hopefully looking into her face Madan asked.
“No. I cannot say so.” increasing his uneasiness she said with a firm voice. “Without diagnosing Susmitha thoroughly, I cannot say anything. Next unless otherwise Susmitha suffered with these types of imaginations in the past, it needs to be taken seriously.”
“It seems you learned to talk puzzlingly.” Madan said irritatingly. “Tell me straight.”
“You are too much distraught that you cannot understand what I have said.” Sukanya paused for a moment and said “There is nothing indirect in what I have said. You said Susmitha is educated and intelligent. A matured intelligent and educated girl would not imagine things like those unnecessarily.”
“What that means? I cannot understand. What you are really trying to say to me?” irritation in Madan became even more. “I have thought you do solve the problem. But you are making me feel even more fearsome.”
She fastly left the chair and went near to him and put her hand on his shoulder. “Mad, I am your friend. I shall do everything in my capacity and make Susmitha free from her imaginations. I am promising you before I leave this house I shall make Susmitha in all respects perfect. Just believe me and depend on me.” She tried to give as much assurance as possible through her eyes and facial expressions to him. “But I don’t want to underestimate the problem. Hearing what all you have said it may be a little major one.”
“I agree with you on this.” he paused for two or three seconds and then said “Can you solve this hundred percent or do we need to go to a more experienced psychologist?”
After hearing him so, her face muscles relaxed and a small smile opened her lips. “An experienced psychologist is not necessary to this. I am more than enough for your girl friend’s problem.” Once again placing her hand on his shoulder and squeezing it, Sukanya said.
“I am feeling very happy after hearing this from you.” He was relaxed and there was happiness in his voice again.
After few seconds pause, Sukanya said again “If we do take it just her hallucination, not just taking it it is purely her imagination of course, but why should she imagine Mamatha and talking with her so? How much you have briefed her about Mamatha?”
“Thoroughly. I said everything to her. I said even about her lover Nagaraju also to her. I thought that she should know about everything relates to Mamatha as she connected with me like that.”
“You are right of course” Sukanya nodded her head. “Did she express any fear that Mamatha may interfere with both of your lives in future.” Looking into his face, she asked him.
“Yes, she did. But I have said to her that there is less likelihood that Mamatha could survive from that furious river. I assured her that there would be no problem to us from Mamatha’s side.” There was a sort of uneasiness in Madan while talking about Mamatha like that.
“I think Susmitha was not assured completely. Subconsciously she might have felt too much fear that Mamatha may interfere with your lives in future and subjected to a hallucination like that.” Thinking furiously in herself, Sukanya said.
“Alright, she felt too much fear and subjected to that hallucination. But what is the logic in imagining her from jumping down from the top of a mango tree? How and why she imagined her as a devil?” Madan got off from the chair and came near to her.
Sukanya involuntarily laughed. Imagining Mamatha jumping from the top of mango tree created a sort of amusement momentarily in her. “I just cannot say anything until I talk with her fully. You don’t unnecessarily become anxious until I do that and come to an opinion.”
“Alright” Madan once again went near to the chair there and slumped himself in it. “As you said…..” he tried to say something more.
` Then they both have heard the sound of doors of the next room opened and someone walked inside in it.
“I think Susmitha has come. I shall introduce you to her.” trying to get away from the chair Madan said.
“You need not bother. I shall go and introduce myself.” Sukanya stopping Madan with her hand said.
“I am now going into her room. Don’t try to come while I am talking with her.” before leaving that room Sukanya said again.

Sukanya went into Susmitha’s room through the open doors feeling a little uneasiness in herself. She said that she did need no introduction of Madan to her but in the corner of her mind she was feeling fear thinking how Susmitha would respond to her.
Susmitha was just about to lay her back on the bed but seeing Sukanya entered into her room so, she got off from the bed and stood up. For a moment both of their eyes met each other. The instant reaction in both of them was a shock! Neither of them had expected that the other was such an exquisite person. Either of them in their opinions held themselves as most beautiful and finding each other so was a blow to their inner pride which developed on account of their glamour.
Sukanya was having as much height as Susmitha and both of their skin colours as well were gold. Suaknya’s eyes were not wide like Susmitha’s but active and her nose was little flat unlike Susmitha’s. Susmitha’s nose was little pointed. She preferred to put ear rings whereas Susmitha preferred to wear studs with diamonds to her ears. Susmitha was in her traditional and usual wear of sari and blouse and Sukanya dressed in tight jeans. Both of their dresses were failed in keeping their abundant youths covered completely. Several feelings were passed through them in those few seconds and there was hostility and envy in their hearts instantly.
It was Sukanya who opened her mouth first to introduce herself to Susmitha, “I am ……” she tried to say something.
